Refresh the Data Model

During data mapping to a specific application, it is important to ensure that you are working with the most up-to-date version of the data model of the external application to which you are mapping Policy Modeling entities and attributes.

The data model information in Oracle Policy Modeling is refreshed:

  • When you choose a connection for a project
  • When you Deploy a Policy Model (see note below)
  • When you click the Refresh button:
    • on the Input Mapping or Output Mapping view of the Data tab,

The Data tab in Policy Modeling showing the Refresh button
      or
    • in the Mapping Settings dialog box.
Mapping Settings dialog box in Policy Modeling showing updated Last refreshed: time.

The Mapping Settings dialog box also shows the date and time the data model was last refreshed.

If you have changed the data model of the connected application (for example, by adding a new custom field or object) use the Refresh button described above to update it.

When deploying:

  • If the chosen Hub has different Connection names, select one from the presented options. Be sure to pick a connection with the same data model elements as those that are currently mapped.
  • Policy Modeling will download a temporary copy of the selected Connection’s data model from the selected Hub.
  • Compatibility checks are made against this temporary copy.
  • Incompatibilities (for example, custom fields or tables that do not exist) are shown in the Deploy Snapshot dialog.

Note: Deploying does not update the data model used for mapping on the Data tab.
