Oracle Responsys Connect & Client Defined Segments

Overview

The CrowdTwist Segmentation Engine can be used to personalize your loyalty program for members by providing a group of members with access to specific activities, rewards, campaigns, etc. If the target audience is not being identified by data in your CrowdTwist program but rather another external system, this list can be loaded and automatically updated via the Client Defined Segment feature.

This list can be generated by any external system, but a common integration is with Oracle Responsys, leveraging the Responsys Interact Connect export functionality.

Note: This requires the client to have their own Oracle Responsys instance. For more information on Oracle Responsys, contact your Oracle representative.

Integration Setup Process

Step 1: To start, you’ll need to determine your audience in your Oracle Responsys Instance. This can be identified via SQL query, filter or Supplemental Data Table. Regardless of how you’re identifying the users, the result will need to be a list of CrowdTwist User IDs in a column titled CTUserID (case insensitive). Additional columns in the file will be ignored in the load. For assistance generating this list, please contact your Oracle Responsys representative.

Step 2: For automated file ingestion from Responsys, you’ll need access to the CrowdTwist SFTP from your Responsys instance. Ask your Oracle Responsys representative to add the CrowdTwist SFTP as an approved external destination.

Step 3: In Responsys, configure your Connect Export job. You’ll want to use the following settings:

  • Select Object: Select your data source that you previously setup with the CTUserID column

  • Destination Connectivity: Select “External Server by SFTP” and select your CrowdTwist SFTP. Directory and Username can be provided by your CrowdTwist representative. Authentication is via SSH key, before connection you’ll need this key installed by CrowdTwist for SFTP access.

  • Destination Specifications: To be automatically ingested by the CrowdTwist Client Defined Segment feature, use the following settings:

    • Name: No prefix, your segment name, YYYYMMDD_HH24MI.csv

    • Character Set: UTF-8

    • Field delimiter: Comma

    • Field enclosure: None

    • Column Header: True

    • Encryption/Compression: None

  • Notification: Configure if you’d like to receive notifications upon run

  • Schedule: Configure how often you’d like the job to run

Step 4: Upon Responsys Connect job run completion, the file should be on the CrowdTwist SFTP. The CrowdTwist process will check for new files every 20min.

Step 5: Upon load, you will see your segment in CrowdTwist and it will be ready for use.
