Tiers
Tiering refers to the available program levels based on points earned or based on spend.
Note: Please contact your account representative to develop and implement a tier strategy.
For programs with tiers,we see an average of three tiers. We suggest not going over five or six tiers. An example tier structure could recommend using a maximum of five or six tiers, for example:
- Novice
- Rising Star
- Contender
- Champion
- Hall of Famer
The following tier types are available:
- Lifetime points based – member earns tier status throughout a member’s entire tenure in the program and the member’s tier never expires
- Timeframe based – member earns tier status and tiers are maintained based on member’s activity during a defined time period.
Tier expiration/downgrade options are as follows:- Fixed-date expiration – when a member meets the criteria for a higher tier and moves into the tier immediately, member remains in this tier for the rest of the current timeframe, as well as to the end of the next timeframe (for example, for tiers that expire on the calendar date of 12/31, member achieves gold on 9/1/2020 and has until 12/31/2021 to earn enough points to maintain the gold tier).
- Rolling-date expiration – when a member meets the criteria for a higher tier and gets promoted to that tier immediately, the timeframe to maintain the tier changes to when the member moves into the tier (for example, if tiers expire based on activity in 365 days of when the member moves into a tier, member achieves gold on 9/1/2020 and has until 8/30/2021 to earn enough points to maintain that current tier).
The following additional tier functionality is available:
- Variable CSS by Tier – Ability to show custom CSS in CrowdTwist Widgets based on a member's current tier
- Tier Override – Ability to override a member's existing tier and automatically add a member to a different tier
- Point Velocity Based on Tier Status – Ability to earn points at a different point velocity based on a member's current tier (e.g. base tier = 1x points, silver = 2x, gold = 3x, etc.)
