Set Up the Initial Export of Data in Oracle Sales

To set up the import of data from Oracle Sales, you must create an initial export activity in Sales of the data you want to send to Fusion Unity Data Platform.

Here's how to create an export activity in Oracle Sales:
  1. Sign in to Oracle Sales with the appropriate privileges and role.
  2. Navigate to Tools > Export Management > Create Export Activity.
  3. Enter the following basic information:
    • Name: Enter a name for the export activity.

    • Description: Enter a description for the export activity.

    • Object: Select the object to export.

    • File Name: Enter a name for the exported file.

    • Advanced Options: Open Advanced Options and enter a notification email address from Export Options. This email will receive a notification when the export activity completes.

  4. Select Next to go to the Configure Export Objects page.
  5. Select the Enabled checkbox.
  6. Select the Filter Name icon for the object you selected before. This is the parent object. In the Script Edit window, enter a future date using the following format CreationDate<'2020-12-12T00:00:00-07:00'. Then, select Save and Close.
Note: Depending on the amount of data that's transferred, the export activity job can take up to several days to complete. To split of the data transfers into smaller files, you can create multiple export activity jobs and configure separate creation dates.
  7. Select Next to review the information for the export activity and select Submit.
  8. When you receive the notification that the export is completed, select the export activity name to download a compressed file of the data.

Upload the Compressed File to a Secure FTP Site

After downloading the compressed file, you'll need to extract the file and upload the individual compressed files to the Secure FTP site. Here's how:
  1. Extract the exported file.
    • Depending on the files selected to export, there will be one or more compressed files within the exported file.
    • One compressed file will be the parent object.
    • If you select to enable child data objects for export, the remaining files will be the child objects.
  2. Copy all the separate compressed files to the Secure FTP site you'll use to transfer files between Oracle Sales and Fusion Unity Data Platform.
  3. Extract all the compressed files you copied to the Secure FTP site.

After extracting the files, you can start following the steps for Set Up the Initial Import of Data in Fusion Unity Data Platform.
