Configure Email channel settings

Use the Email channel section to manage the email defaults for the instance.

Here, you can specify default values for email messages:

  • From Name: the default sender name for all messages.
  • From Address: the default email address to be used as the From Address for all messages. This address is used whenever a bounced email message is returned to the sender because, for some reason, it could not be delivered to the designated recipient.
  • Reply-to Address: the default email address to be used whenever an email recipient replies to a message.
  • BCC Addresses: optionally, you can choose the BCC addresses to use as the default BCC recipients.
  • Important: Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) is an add-on feature that must be ordered for your account. Please contact your account manager or Oracle sales.

  • Send the message with UTF-8 encoding: specify whether to send messages with UTF-8 encoding.
  • Custom X-Headers: Custom X-headers allow you to include up to 10 user-defined values in each email message you send. For example, you could include message ID, subscriber ID, so you can easily tie a bounced email, spam complaint, opened email, or clicked email back to your own system.
  • Insert List-Unsubscribe email header in message: Include an unsubscribe button in the email header. This is considered a best practice by major ISPs.
  • Footer: You can add a default custom footer for your instance. You have the option to set No Footer or Custom Footer as a default for the instance. Custom footers allow you to upload an HTML file. You can choose to use the footer default in your message. To record unsubscribes for reporting purposes, you must use the personalization scripting language for unsubscribes in the message footer or body. If you would like to use the Responsys Express standard unsubscribe link, then you can include the following piece of code in your HTML file: <a href='${environment.unsubscribelink}'>Unsubscribe</a>
  • Track Opens: Turned on by default. Enabling this option allows Responsys Express to track how many contacts opened a message and how many times it was opened. The open pixel is placed at the top of the message; this is the recommended best practice. This setting is instance-wide, but you can override this setting for specific messages.
  • Track Clicks: Turned off by default. Enabling this option allows Responsys Express to track which links in a message were clicked and how many times they were clicked. This setting is instance-wide, but you can override this setting for specific messages. With link tracking enabled, every time you add new links to your message, Responsys Express will ensure that they are tracked.
  • External Tracking: External tracking allows you to add parameters (such as utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign) to a link (URL). For example, the following link would allow you to identify the traffic to example.com that came from a particular email newsletter, as part of a particular campaign:

    https://example.com?utm_source=news4&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=spring-summer

Setting up the tracking parameter's name and value at the instance will automatically append them to the links that you include in your message. You can choose to turn off the external tracking for each message.
