Mobile app link URLs in link tables

Important: This topic applies only for email campaigns that have link tracking enabled.

You can redirect recipients into a mobile app when they click a link on their Android or iOS mobile devices.

The specified app will open if it is installed on the recipient's device. If the app is not installed, or if the app URL is not specified, the recipient will be redirected to the link URL.

To add mobile app links to your link table:

  1. Work with a Responsys Account Administrator and your mobile app development team to get the correct links into your mobile app.

The URL links into the mobile app must be in the format that the mobile app understands, for example, example-app://products/1234.

Mobile app developers must implement iOS Universal Links and Android App Links in the mobile app to which you want to link. They can learn more in the following topics:

  2. Add the links to the mobile app in the following fields:
  • IOS link URL : For iOS devices. This URL will link from the Responsys email campaign directly into recipients' iOS mobile apps (if installed), using iOS Universal Links.
  • Android link URL: For Android devices. This URL will link from the Responsys email campaign directly into recipients' Android mobile apps (if installed), using Android App Links.

Important: To provide the best user experience for your mobile app users, provide links for both Android link URL and iOS link URL to the link table. For example, a common error is to not provide a link for Android link URL when a link for iOS link URL has been provided. When this happens, your Android app users may have a less optimal user experience. This applies for iOS app users also. Mobile app developers should review the "Troubleshooting" sections of the Universal Links (iOS) and App Links (Android) topics for additional details and best practices.
