Create a vendor bill from a purchase order

Create a vendor bill from an approved purchase order to carry the eligible item and expense lines into the bill. Open the approved purchase order.

Before you begin

You need an approved purchase order with at least one item or expense line that is eligible for billing. See Purchase orders.

Bill a purchase order

  1. Open the approved purchase order.

  2. Select Bill.

  3. Review the vendor bill date, terms, due date, reference ID, and accounting information.

  4. Review the item and expense lines copied from the purchase order. Remove or adjust lines when the vendor is billing only part of the order.

  5. Select Save as draft or Submit.

The vendor, item and expense lines, locations, projects, amounts, and purchase-order rates are carried to the vendor bill when applicable. The billing address is sourced for the bill instead of being copied from the purchase order.

Closed purchase-order lines are excluded. If the purchase order is only partially billed, you can create another vendor bill for its remaining eligible lines.
