Create a tax code

Use Menu > Accounting > Settings > Taxes > Tax codes to create a code that connects an existing tax type with the tax applied to eligible taxable transactions. The saved code appears in the list and becomes available to the tax engine for applicable transactions.

Before you begin

Create the required tax type before creating the tax code.

Create a tax code

1. Select Menu, then select Accounting > Settings.
2. On the Taxes card, select Tax codes.
3. Select Create tax code.
4. Enter the tax code name and select the tax type.
5. Optionally enter a description.
6. Select Create.

The tax code appears in the Tax codes list and is available to the tax engine for applicable transactions.
