Change your authenticator app
Replace the authenticator app used for two-factor authentication (2FA), including when you move the setup to a new phone. In the global navigation, select your name or initials, and then select My preferences.
Before you begin
- Have the current 6-digit authenticator code or an unused 8-digit backup code available.
- Install an OATH TOTP-compatible authenticator app on the device that you want to use.
- Changing the app makes the previous authenticator setup unavailable for QuickStart sign-in.
Steps
- In the global navigation, select your name or initials, and then select My preferences.
- In Categories, select Security and authentication > Two-factor authentication (2FA).
- In the Change authenticator app section, select Change authenticator app.
-
In step 1, enter the current Verification code.
If you cannot access the current app, select Use backup code and enter an unused backup code.
- Select Next.
- In step 2, review the authenticator app information, and then select Next.
-
In step 3, scan the QR code with the new app.
If you cannot scan it, select Try a setup key instead and enter the displayed key in the app.
- Enter the new 6-digit Verification code, and then select Confirm update.
Result
QuickStart displays an Authenticator app changed confirmation and sends a 2FA setup notification to your sign-in email address. Use codes from the new app for future verification.
