Fields with options
Some CSV import fields support more than one way to identify a related QuickStart record or supply a value. An option in parentheses after the field name tells QuickStart how to interpret that column.
Use the headers from the CSV template generated for the selected record and import operation. Some generated headers include an option, such as External ID (set) or Credit (amount), while fields that use their default representation might not include one. For example, a generated sales-order template can use Customer. To identify the customer by internal ID instead, change that header to Customer (id).
The following options are supported where the corresponding field allows them:
| Field type | Option | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Record reference | name |
Reference a record by name. This is the default for applicable reference fields. |
| Record reference | id |
Reference a record by internal ID. |
| Record reference | eid |
Reference a record by external ID. |
| External ID | lookup |
Identify an existing record to update. |
| External ID | set |
Assign the specified external ID to the imported record. |
| Monetary field | amount |
Enter the numeric amount. Current single-currency templates can include headers such as Items > Rate (amount). |
When you start an import from a record list or select Create new or update existing records, the generated template can use External ID (set) together with Internal ID. Do not change the generated identifier columns or their options unless the import operation requires a different supported reference option.
