Overview of Punchout Search Items

A punchout search item is an item a user can search on a punchout catalog.

By default, items on a punchout catalog can't be searched as they're hosted on a 3rd party website, which means a user must first navigate to the 3rd party website to look for an item that might not be there.

To save time, a supplier can provide you a list of items they have, and you, as a catalog administrator, can create an index of these items. This index is called the Punchout Item Search Index. The availability of the index lets users search these items locally without first having to go to the punchout site.

The punchout index file can either be provided by the supplier in the upload format, or you can prepare the upload file based on the information provided by the supplier.

Note: You can upload any number of punchout search items, there’s no restriction to what number of items you can upload.

As a Catalog Administrator, you can continue to provide punchout catalog level keywords that return the punchout catalog in the search results when there is a match. You can use high level keywords such as office supplies or laptops for those users who aren't looking for specific punchout items.

You can maintain a punchout search index file when defining or editing a punchout catalog. The search index can also be maintained to reflect any updates, such as price changes and item replacements.
