How You Create Master Items from the Blanket Purchase Agreement Import

You can create items from the Blanket Purchase Agreement import by specifying items on the FBDI template.

To create the item:
  • Specify the item in the FBDI template.
  • Submit the Blanket Purchase Agreement Import job with the Create or Update Item parameter set to Y.

The application will create the item in PIM if the specified item doesn't exist.

Master Items with Trading Partner Item Associations

You can create trading partner items (supplier items and manufacturer part numbers) from the Blanket Purchase Agreement import by using the Create Master Items with Trading Partner Item Associations from the Blanket Purchase Agreement Import feature. This helps in:

  • Automatically deriving the item class for new master items.
  • Automatically generating the item number based on the item number generation method assigned to the item class.
  • Automatically creating items in all child organizations of the item master organization associated with the procurement business unit.
  • Automatically derive the primary UOM from either the base UOM of the BPA line's unit class or the lowest UOM in the item's packaging string.
  • Performing duplicate checks before creating new master items or trading partner items to support these use cases:
    • Create new trading partner items and their relationships to new master items.
    • Add new trading partner items to an existing master item by providing the master item number.
    • Add a supplier item to an existing master item by providing the manufacturer part number to identify the master item.
    • Create relationships between existing trading partner items and existing or new master items.
  • Ensuring manufacturers provided for new manufacturer part numbers are valid.
  • Ensuring Product Information Management remains the single source of truth for trading partner item information by not storing trading partner item references on imported BPA lines when corresponding trading partner items are created in Product Information Management.
