How You Search for Master Items Using Multiple Item Attributes When Creating Purchasing Documents

To search for master items using multiple item attributes, you must use the Search for Master Items Using Multiple Item Attributes When Creating Purchasing Documents feature.

Using the feature, you can use keywords to search for items to add to a purchase order or blanket purchase agreement. You can search for items using attributes such as Manufacturer, Manufacturer Part Number, Supplier Part Number, Cross-Reference Value, or Extensible Flexfields (EFFs).

When an item has multiple manufacturer and manufacturer part numbers, you can select the combination of values that you want to bring back to the purchase order or blanket purchase agreement line. When an item has multiple supplier part numbers, the application will bring back the supplier part number to the purchase order or blanket purchase agreement line only if you select the one corresponding to the supplier specified on the purchasing document.

Note: For blanket purchase agreements, the Populate Trading Partner Item Details on Agreements profile option must be set to Yes.

Keyword search lets you find items quickly that you're looking for. Before you can use the keyword search, you must build the index. To know how to build index for attributes, see the Build Item Keyword Index topic on the Implementing Product Management guide.

When using keyword search, you can take advantage of automatic suggestions from the keyword index. Up to 15 automatic suggestions are provided in these categories:

  • Item number and description: If the search text matches the item number or description

  • Item class: If the search text matches the item class

  • Attributes: If the search text matches the value of one of the indexed attributes

  • Relationships: If the search text matches the indexed item relationships

To use automatic suggestions from the keyword index, you must use the Filter Your Item Selections for Transactions Using Automatic Suggestions feature.
