Standard Conversions for Units of Measure
A unit of measure standard conversion specifies the conversion factor by which the unit of measure is equivalent to the base unit of measure.
Defining a unit of measure standard conversion lets you perform transactions in units other than the primary unit of measure of the item being transacted. A standard conversion is needed on any unit of measure that you want to use as a primary UOM for any item. The standard unit of measure conversion is used for an item if an item-specific unit of measure conversion hasn't been defined.
Scenario
This table lists examples of unit of measure classes, one unit of measure included in each class, the base unit of measure for the unit of measure class, and the conversion factor defined for the unit of measure.

In the first example, you're converting a unit of measure called dozen into a base unit of measure called each. The conversion factor tells the application that for each dozen, there are 12 of the base unit each. For example, if you had 4 dozen eggs, with a conversion factor of 12, you would get 48 each eggs.
