Overview of Allocation Tracing
With appropriate security provisioning, you can use the Trace Allocations feature to select a model view and POV.
You can then trace forward or back from that point to see allocation inputs and outputs for a selected dimension.
While rule balancing, described in Administering Profitability and Cost Management , presents some similar information in a grid format, tracing allocations shows graphically how allocation amounts are flowing in and out of application elements. You can use this information for evaluation and validation. When you trace, you can select a particular generation level or always roll up data to the top. For details, see the listed topics.
