Can I change the project number for an existing project?

Yes, but you can’t edit project numbers for the following scenarios:

• Project has existing billing events or cost transactions.
• Project has a budget enabled for budgetary control.
• Project number originates from an external application.
• You have enabled automatic project numbering using the Manage Project Number task in the Setup and Maintenance work area.
• Action controls exist that disallow edits to project number.
