What's a planning project?

A planning project enables you to create task assignments and enter planning amounts, bring in summarized actual amounts into the project plan, and capture progress in Project Financial Management applications.

In other words, you can only perform the following activities if you designate your project as a planning project:

• Create task assignments.

• Enter effort against tasks.

• Track project progress.

• Enable display of summarized actual amounts on the project plan.

• Use Microsoft Project integration.

Note: If you exclude actual costs from summarization at the project unit level, then you can't designate projects as planning projects.
