Create Change Requests

As a project manager or project application administrator, you can create change requests with clear reasons and assess their impact on project scope, schedule, and budget.

Note: Team collaborators can also create change requests, but additional privileges are required to assess their impacts.
Follow these steps:
  1. Navigate to the appropriate work area:
    • Project managers: Open Manage Project Plan page.
    • Team members: Open the My Work work area.
    • Project administrators: Select a project in the Project Financial Management work area.
  2. Open the Task panel and click Manage Change Requests.
  3. On the Manage Change Requests page, perform these tasks:
    • Enter the details as appropriate and click Save.
    • Click the Financial Impact tab and assess and record the project plan and budget impacts. Ensure that a baseline budget version of an approved financial plan type exists before adding budget impacts.
Note: A change request can include either project plan impacts or budget impacts, but not both.
    • Click the Attachments tab and upload any relevant documents, such as impacted drawings, for complete documentation.
    • Click Save.

The change request is created and listed on the Manage Change Requests page. Once created, the change request owner (or users with appropriate data access) can move it through defined lifecycle statuses to align with internal review and client approval processes.

Some points to consider:
  • On the Manage Change Requests page, use the Summary view to monitor all change requests, or switch to the Detailed view to see a breakdown of each change request with specific impact lines. You can select individual impacts and consolidate them directly into change orders for more agile change management.
  • You can edit or delete a change request. However, a change request can only be deleted if it’s in New or Canceled status.
