Setting Up Plan Review Due Dates

Agencies can configure agency settings, time rules, and application types to automatically calculate plan review due dates in permit and planning applications.

Your agency can define turnaround times for plan reviews based on the permit or planning application type and whether it's a first or subsequent review for the application. The plan review due dates for individual departments can be different, and there can be a due date for completing the entire review cycle.

Here are the steps for setting up your agency to automatically calculate plan review due dates:

  1. Set up time rules and time policies to use for calculations.

    1. Select a time rule classification: Permits or Planning and Zoning.

    2. Select the Due Date Type: Plan review.

    3. You can add 2 time policies for each time rule: One for the first review due date and the other for subsequent review dates. If the first review cycle is canceled, the first time policy applies to the next added cycle.

For more information, see Setting Up Time Rules.

  2. Turn on the Exclude Saturday and Sunday switch in the Plan Reviews section of the agency options for Permits and Planning and Zoning to calculate plan review due dates without counting Saturday and Sunday. The holiday calendar is always taken into account to exclude holidays.

For more information, see Setting Up Agencies.

  3. Add the time rules to the Plan Reviews section of the application type definition.

    • The Cycle Time Rule is the time rule used to calculate and automatically populate the cycle due date when you add a plan review cycle for the application.

    • The time rules entered in the plan reviewer department grid are used to calculate and automatically populate the plan reviewer due dates for each department with a time rule. You can assign reviewers from each department after the due dates have been added.
