Setting Up Transaction to GIS Attributes Mapping

Your agency can export permit transaction location information for display on an ESRI map. Define and manage the mapping of transaction attributes to GIS attributes to export transaction data to the map layer on the Transaction to GIS Attributes Mappings page.

The agency sets up the system like this to export the permit transaction attributes to the map layer:

  1. Your agency must use an editable feature service so that exported data can be written on the map layer. Set up the feature service on the GIS Feature Services page.

For more information, see Setting Up GIS Feature Services.

  2. Use the Transaction to GIS Attributes Mappings setup pages to map the GIS attributes that you want to get transaction data for.

See the next section in this topic, "Mapping Required Attributes."

  3. A scheduled action in the Business Rules Framework exports the transaction data to the GIS layer using the latest mapping definitions. Set up a GIS export action in the Business Rules Framework to export the mapped transaction data.

For more information, see Setting Up Export GIS Data Actions.

Mapping Required Attributes

Your agency defines the mapping between the transaction attributes and respective GIS attributes so that the agency can send the permit transaction data to an ESRI map layer.

Here's how to define and manage the mapping of transaction data to GIS attributes:

  1. Access setup through the Functional Setup Manager by selecting Setup and Maintenance > GIS > Manage Transaction to GIS Attributes Mappings.

  2. On the Transaction to GIS Attributes Mappings page, click the Add (+) button.

  3. On the New transaction to GIS attributes mapping drawer, enter this information:

    Page Element

    Description

    Offering

Select the Permits offering to map permit transaction attributes.

    Mapping Name and Description

Enter a name and description for the mapping.

    Feature Service

Enter an editable feature service so that exported data can be written on the map layer.

    Layer

Select a specific layer from the list of layers associated with the feature service. Use this layer to map the respective GIS attributes to transaction attributes. This is the layer where the transaction attribute data resides after it has been exported using the transaction to GIS attributes mapping definition.

    Resource

Select a resource associated with the permit offering for mapping definitions. These resources are used by the Business Rules Framework to export GIS data:

    • Permit Inspection

    • Permits Workflow Communications

For more information, see Setting Up Export GIS Data Actions.

    Transaction Type

Select from the available transaction types based on the selected offering. Use this option to select a transaction type if you want to map custom attributes defined for that transaction type along with the standard permit attributes.

  4. Each mapping must identify the permit record key, latitude, and longitude values for the location of the transaction.

In the Map required attributes section, enter GIS attributes for these required transaction attributes:

    • Transaction Record ID

    • Latitude

    • Longitude

  5. Once you click Save to save the required attributes that you entered, the Map additional attributes section appears. You can map transaction attributes from all of the standard and global or reusable attributes exposed by the selected resource to a GIS attribute.

  6. Turn on the Enable switch in the Map additional attributes section to enable the mapping for use in the Business Rules Framework, where you configure the action to export the transaction data to the GIS layer.

  7. Click Save.

Saved mapping definitions appear on the Transaction to GIS Attributes Mappings page. You can also manage the mapping definitions like this:

  • Click the mapping row in the table to open the Transaction to GIS attributes mapping details drawer. You can save updates to attributes in the mapping definition.

  • Although you can't delete a mapping, you can disable it.

  • Enter key words in the Search field to find matching mapping definitions.

  • Click the Export button to download a list of mapping definitions on the page.

Caution:

Oracle highly recommends not deleting GIS attributes in the respective map layer after transaction to GIS attribute mapping.

If the feature service is already associated with a mapping definition, updating or removing the feature service will affect the associated map. If you delete a GIS attribute on the ESRI layer after mapping and the GIS attribute was already mapped to a transaction attribute, then when you access the mapping again, the respective row indicates that the attribute is deleted in GIS.
