Setting Up Public Comments for Planning Applications
You can configure Planning and Zoning activities to open public comment periods for planning applications. When an activity has Allow Public Comments enabled, registered public users can submit comments for the application during the activity’s comment period. The comment period is available only while the activity is active and the activity status isn’t canceled.
The Public Comments tile appears by default on the registered public user landing page for the Planning and Zoning offering.
Here's how to set up an activity with a public comment period:
-
Create or identify the reusable activity for which there will be a public comment period.
-
Add the activity to an activity group.
-
In the activity setup drawer, turn on Allow Public Comments.
-
Configure the base date and due date rules that determine the activity date range.
Public comments can be enabled for activities using the Days after base date type.
Public comments can also be turned on when the base date is "None." In this case, the agency staff manually sets the base date and due date while adding the activity as an ad hoc activity to the planning application.
-
-
Assign the activity group to the applicable Planning and Zoning application type.
The application appears on the public-facing Public Comments page only during the open comment period.
