Using the Process Monitor

The Process Monitor enables users to initiate and manage processes specific to Oracle Permitting and Licensing.

Select Permitting and Licensing Process Monitor on the Permitting and Licensing home page to open the Process Monitor page displayed using the Redwood Experience.

Note:

The Process Monitor page in Permitting and Licensing is distinct from Scheduled Processes in the Oracle Cloud. For more information running ESS jobs in the Oracle Cloud, see Best Practices for Scheduled Processes.

Scheduling a New Process

Use the Schedule New Process option on the Process Monitor page to schedule and manage ESS jobs.

You can select a process, enter runtime runtime parameters, configure notifications, and run the process immediately or schedule it for later.

  1. On the Process Monitor page, click the Schedule New Process button.

  2. On the Schedule New Process drawer, select the process that you want to run. The description of the selected process appears in the Description field.

  3. Click Add to open the page associated with the selecvted process. For example, if you select the Generate Accounting process, the Generate Accounting page opens.

  4. Enter parameters for the process.

You can run processes immediately or schedule them to run at a specific time.
    Note:

If you want to schedule a recurring process more than 20 years in the future, the End Date must have a four-digit year. This requires updating the date format defined in the regional preferences. To update the date format:

    • Open the account menu and select My Preferences.
    • Click View Advanced Preferences, and select Regional.
    • Update the Date Format field to use a four-digit year.
  5. Click Submit.

  6. Click Refresh to view the status of the processes listed in the Process Monitor.

Managing Processes

The Process Monitor page displays information for each process in the following sortable columns:

  • Name

  • Process ID

  • Status

  • Submitted By

  • Submission Time

  • Scheduled Time

Note:

The Submission Time and Scheduled Time columns use the time zone specified in the user’s preferences, not the time zone for the agency.

Click Sort By to filter the displayed process information by Name, Process, or Submission Time or Scheduled Time.

You can manage processes using the available actions:

  • Review job history
  • Access execution logs
  • Monitor process status
  • Track overall job activity

Running ESS Jobs by Functional Area

You can use the Process Monitor to run jobs related to the following functional areas (not limited to):
  • Permitting
  • Licensing
  • Payments
  • Communications
  • Data migration
  • Parcel processing

Understanding the Difference Between the Oracle Permitting and Licensing Process Monitor and Fusion Scheduled Processes

Fusion Scheduled Processes differs from the Oracle Permitting and Licensing Process Monitor in both purpose and scope. The Oracle Permitting and Licensing Process Monitor is used to monitor ESS jobs specific to the Permitting and Licensing functional area, while Fusion Scheduled Processes are used for shared Fusion platform services.

Examples of Oracle Permitting and Licensing jobs include:
  • Sync Email Status
  • Reconcile payments
  • Create Oracle Receivables receipt
  • Process invoice and fees
  • Complete post parcel import processing

Oracle Permitting and Licensing uses both process-monitoring frameworks because the application depends on shared Fusion platform service, where they are referred to as Scheduled Processes, as well as Permitting and Licensing-specific application services.

Using the Fusion Scheduled Processes in Oracle Permitting and Licensing

In Oracle Permitting and Licensing, use Fusion Scheduled Processes for shared Fusion platform jobs instead of Permitting and Licensing-specific jobs.

Fusion Scheduled Processes support technical and system-level activities and jobs such as:

  • Ingesting data into Elasticsearch or Oracle Search
  • Indexing business entities
  • Synchronizing roles

Examples of these jobs include (not limited to):

  • Create index definition
  • Perform initial ingest
  • Role synchronization

These jobs support backend platform services used by Oracle Permitting and Licensing.
