Create a Production Line for Flow Manufacturing

Welcome to the demo of the 25A feature create a production line for flow manufacturing in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing.

Flow manufacturing is a method of manufacturing characterized by running a continuous production of similar products, often single-piece flow, on a production line at a steady rate to align with customer demand. The production workflow is designed with lean manufacturing and just-in-time principles in mind, where consistent and standardized operations are executed with streamlined cycle times, built in quality, and minimal waste.

In changeovers, a production line models a physical set of sequential equipment to make a product or similar products. It's common for certain industries to run multiple production lines in a plant, with variations in their configuration and scale to accommodate demand changes with production flexibility. With this feature, you can create and manage production lines with a specified rate of units produced in an hour using the Redwood user experience. It provides a modern and responsive user interface to efficiently manage production lines to run flow manufacturing.

Lastly, this feature allows you to quickly create and edit production lines used to streamline production based on the line capacity and availability. In this demo we will see how you can create and edit a production line using the Redwood Experience. First, we will log in and navigate to the Work Definition Overview page. Being in the Work Definition Overview page, we will click on the production lines action to navigate to the Production Lines page.

As you can see here, the Production Lines page is rendered in Redwood, which displays a list of production lines that have been defined through the provision of an active lines filter chip. It provides the ability for users to filter and display the list of the production lines that are currently active. Users also have the ability to search for a production line by specifying either its name or code.

Now let's create a production line by clicking on the Create Production Line button. We will now enter the details required to create the production line.

First, we will enter the name of the production line. Next, we will enter the description of the line. Next, we will enter a code for the production line. We will now enter a line rate, which represents the number of units of a product or a group of products that the line is expected to produce per hour. The inverse of the line rate is the tack time, which represents the time interval between two successive outputs produced by the production line.

Having entered the details we will click on the Create button to create the production line. As you can see here the toast message is displayed confirming that the production line is successfully created. And the newly created production line is displayed at the top based on most recent, which is the default sort-by option.

Next, let's see how a production line can be edited. We will search for a production line to edit by specifying the name of the production line as the search criteria. The production line is fetched. We will now update the details of the production line by changing the line rate.

We will now update the line rate. Having modified the line rate, we will click on the Save button to save the changes. As can be seen here, the production line is successfully updated and a toast message is displayed confirming the update. This is how we can manage production lines using the Redwood Experience.

This concludes the featured demo. Thank you for watching.
