Create Digital Work Instructions for Work Definition Operations
Welcome to the demo of the 24D feature, create digital work instructions for work definition operations in Fusion Manufacturing. With this feature, you can now create work instruction tasks for a work definition operation to guide production operators through the execution of an operation at a workstation.
Having digital work instructions integrated into the manufacturing workflow lets manufacturing engineers maintain the latest set of instructions. This helps with higher compliance with production procedures. Work definition operations now can contain detailed instructions with visual guides that are presented as a sequence of tasks.
Let us see through a demonstration how work instructions are created within a work definition. I'm logged in as a manufacturing engineer. And I'm navigating to the Manage Work Definitions page. I looked up a work definition for which I will create work instructions. Let us now open this work definition.
And now we see there is a new tab called Instructions. I'm going to open this tab to see what is available here. And for this work definition, we have not created any instructions yet. Let me create an instruction for the assembly operation. I have selected the operation. And I'm clicking this button, add instruction. And this is going to take me to a page. We need a name for this.
Now, I see there are a couple of layout options here. I can choose one column. And I can choose two columns. I'm going to just go with the symmetrical layout option. On the left side, I want some text. And here is my text. And this is a rich text editor. And we can format it as we like.
And on the right side, I want an image. For that, I need to open the media drawer. This will allow me to upload a PDF file or an image. I can also drag and drop files directly here. And once I close this drawer, I will see a preview of what this instruction is going to look like. I have the option to continue creating more instructions like this or click this create button, which will take me back to the list of instructions.
I'm now back to the Instructions tab. I see a warning message, create tasks for the instruction. A task is essential for an instruction to get displayed during execution of the work. To create a task, I can select the instruction or the operation name and click this button, Define Tasks. That is going to take me to another page. And this page contains a list of tasks for this operation. And we do not have any task defined yet.
I click the Add button to create a task. The task type I want to create is digital work instruction. And this allows us to use the instruction we just created as a task. I'm going to use this name here and click the Save button. And that's how we can use the instruction to create a task.
I have gone ahead and created a few more instructions. And I have created some tasks out of those instructions as well. I want to add another kind of task now. We have these additional task types that do not require any instruction to be created beforehand. So now I'll use the document task type as an example. So let's say this is for reviewing safety procedures.
For this document task type, all I have to do is just upload a document, and click save. And this is how we can create tasks without instructions. I have created all the tasks for this operation now. There's a couple more things I want to show here. I'm going back to this task now. And we have the option to manually override the sequence. And this is the last task for this operation. So I'm going to set this as 5.
And there is also this tab called Advanced. This allows me to select a preceding task. A preceding task is something that needs to be completed before this task can be performed. And for now, I'm not going to select anything. I'm just going to save and go back to my list. And that's how we can create a set of tasks and sequence them as well.
I'm now back to the work definition view here. Let's see how an instruction can be edited. Just select the instruction and click the edit instruction button. Here, I have the option to change the name of the instruction. I have the option to change the layout. So I can make this a symmetrical layout. For now, I'm happy with this asymmetrical layout. And I also can make changes to the content here.
Let's say if I want to change this text, I can just click this button. It'll take me to the editor. I can modify the text. If I want to switch the type of content, let's say I want to change this from text to media. I go to the switcher icon. And I can select the media here and an upload file. Once we make all the changes, we simply just click this update button. And that edits the instruction.
Using the same steps, more instructions and tasks have been defined for all the other operations for this work definition now. This is how we can enhance the work definition to include digital instructions. This concludes the demonstration for this feature. Thank you so much for watching.
