Create Inventory Tasks, Assign Tasks, and Execute Tasks
In this demo, I will show how tasks are created, how warehouse and inventory managers can review the tasks and assign them to workers, and how worker can execute those tasks. First, use the Task Configurations page to enable task creation for specific activities. The task grouping rule determines how count sequences are grouped into a task. Tasks can be grouped by zone, subinventory, or cycle count definition.
For physical inventory, tasks can be grouped by zone, subinventory, or physical inventory definition. Once you enable task for all required activities, click Save to update the task configuration. Now I will show how pick tasks are created, assigned, and executed.
Pick confirm tasks are automatically created when a pick is released to the warehouse. One task is generated per pick slip. First, I am going to pick release in order. The pick is now created.
Now, let's see how warehouse and inventory managers can review the task and assign it using the Inventory Task Assignments page. You can access this page from the Inventory Management work area or through Quick Actions.
By default, the page displays all open tasks. You can filter tasks by status and zone. You can also view tasks by type by clicking the scorecard for each activity type. The task list shows the task name, zone, status, assign to, assignment time, due date, and priority. You also have options to view task details and notes for yourself or the worker, assign, unassign, reassign, or close the task.
Click the Assigned toggle to view all assigned tasks. Click the Unassigned toggle to view all unassigned tasks. To assign the task to a worker, click the Assign icon. A drawer opens showing workers from the zone where the task was created. You can switch zones to search for workers in a different area.
You can also include workers who aren't assigned to any zone by selecting the All Workers option. Expand any worker to see their current workload. I am going to select Patrick and assign the task to him. The task is assigned.
Now, let's log in as Patrick and execute the pick task that was assigned to him. To execute the task, use the Inventory Tasks page from the Inventory Management, Mobile work area, or through Quick Actions. You will see a list of tasks assigned to the worker.
There's also an option to pick up unassigned tasks. To execute a task, click on the task card. It will navigate to the mobile pick confirm page. From here, you can complete the pick transaction.
I completed the pick transaction. Let's return to the task page. The task is automatically closed, and I don't have any more assigned tasks to execute. Now I will show how cycle count tasks are created, assigned, and executed.
Cycle count tasks are automatically created when count sequences are generated. I've already created a cycle count definition. Now, I'm going to generate a count sequence for it.
The cycle count task is now displayed. In this case, I won't assign the task to a worker. I'll let the worker pick it up manually. Now, let's log in as Patrick and open the Inventory Tasks page. Currently, there are no assigned tasks.
Click the Unassigned toggle. The cycle count task is now displayed here. Click the task card to assign the task. Now go back to My Tasks and click on the task card. It will navigate to the mobile cycle count page. From here, you can complete the cycle count transaction.
Once completed, the task is automatically closed, and there are no more assigned tasks left to execute. Now I will show how PAR count tasks are created, assigned, and executed. PAR count tasks are manually created. Go to the Open PAR Count Tasks scorecard and click Create Task. Enter the task details.
You can choose to count the entire subinventory, a specific locator, or a specific item. For now, I'm going to count the entire subinventory. If you don't want to count the entire subinventory, you can switch to the locator or item toggle to select a specific locator or item to count.
You also have an option to make this a recurring task. Set recurring task to Yes and specify the expected duration to complete each task. On the Schedule tab, select the repeat pattern, for example, day and repeat frequency. Enter the start and end dates or the number of occurrences.
Optionally, select one or more time slots that you want to execute the task per day. Click Generate to preview the full schedule. Then click Create to create the task. If the schedule includes tasks for today, they will immediately appear on the Task Assignment page.
For future-dated schedules, ensure the perform actions on inventory tasks scheduled process is set to run daily with the Create Recurring Tasks action. This process automatically generates tasks for the current day based on the recurring schedule. Now, let's log in as Patrick and open the Inventory Tasks page.
Click the Unassigned toggle. The PAR count task is now displayed here. I'm going to assign the task to myself and execute it. This navigates to the Mobile PAR Count page. From here, you can complete the PAR count transaction.
Once completed, the task is automatically closed, and there are no more assigned tasks left to execute. Now I will show how receipt delivery tasks are created, assigned, and executed. Receipt delivery tasks can be created manually or automatically. If you use the feature to automatically assign deliveries to carts, the tasks are created automatically for the deliveries.
If you don't use this feature, then receipt delivery tasks must be manually created from the Receipt Deliveries page. In this demo, I'll show the manual creation process. First, navigate to the Receipt Deliveries page. Find the open deliveries for which you want to assign a cart and create a task.
Select the delivery and click Add to Delivery Cart. In the dialog box, select the cart. Then you can either select an existing task associated with the cart that is open and not yet assigned to a worker, or you can create a new task. I'm going to create a new task and assign it.
Let's go back to the Task Assignment page. You can now see the delivery task listed here. Now, let's log in as Patrick and open the Inventory Tasks page. The delivery task is now displayed here. Click the task card to assign the task.
Click on the task card. It will navigate to the Mobile Deliver Goods page. From here, you can complete the delivery transaction.
Once completed, the task is automatically closed, and there are no more assigned tasks left to execute. This concludes my demonstration. Thank you for watching.
