Define Pull Sequences and Generate Production and Interorganization Kanban Cards
Welcome to the demo of the 25B Define Pull Sequences and Generate Production and Interorganization Kanban Cards in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing. Materials managers need to define the sequence of items pulled from inter-organization sources to replenish the supply sub-inventories for the materials required in executing a flow schedule on a production line so that material is delivered in time when it is needed and without maintaining excess inventory.
This feature provides the ability to set up pull sequences to replenish materials using production Kanban cards to make a specific quantity of a product or inter-organization Kanban cards to transfer from an external location. Replenishing the inter-organization Kanban cards will create a transfer order to pull materials from another organization. Replenishing the production Kanbans will create a make order to produce the material in the same organization.
There will be three demo scenarios. The first demo will show production Kanban replenishment flow through flow schedule creation. The second demo will show the production Kanban replenishment flow through work order. And the third demo will show inter-organization Kanban setup and execution with shipping.
Now, let's walk through the first demo scenario of a production Kanban replenishment creating a flow schedule. First, we will create a pull sequence with supply type as production. Next, we will generate Kanban cards for the pull sequence.
Replenish one Kanban card to create a flow schedule for supply generation. Finally, we will complete the flow schedule. Login to the application as a warehouse manager. Navigate as supply chain execution followed by inventory management.
Click panel drawer icon to see the Task menu. In the Task menu, click Pull Sequences under Kanban. Kanban Pull Sequences summary page is displayed. Click Create Pull Sequence action. The page to create new pull sequence is displayed.
Enter the required details, item, destination, subinventory, and, if applicable, the locator. Source type as production, production line name as the flow line, Kanban size, number of cards, and, optionally, lead time. Click Create to create the pull sequence.
If a production line name is entered, a flow schedule will be created on this production line on replenishment of the Kanban card. Else, a discrete or process work order will be created on replenishment as per the primary work definition. The pull sequence is listed in the Pull Sequence summary page. A toast message is displayed for confirmation.
Click the item number link to open the pull sequence details. The pull sequence is displayed. Click Generate Cards action to generate the required number of cards. Kanban cards are generated in new status. And a toast message is displayed.
Login as a warehouse operator. And navigate to Kanban execution to replenish a Kanban card. Scan the Kanban card. Click Replenish. The card is replenished.
The card is an empty status indicating that supply document creation is initiated. A flow schedule is created on the production line in the pull sequence. Note that there must be flow work definition on the production line.
The card status becomes in process when the supply document flow schedule is created and released. Note the card number and the flow schedule number. Log in as a production operator. And execute the flow schedule to create supply. Let us view the flow schedule.
Click Manage Flow Schedules and query for the flow schedule. View the details of the flow schedule. The details display the Kanban card associated to the flow schedule.
Click Flow Schedules Execution. In the Production Line, click View Flow Schedules. Search for the required flow schedule. Complete the flow schedule.
The flow schedule is completed. A toast message is displayed for confirmation. The Kanban card status is updated to Full. The material requirement has been fulfilled. This completes the first demo on creating Kanban replenishment supply through flow schedule.
Now, let's walk through the next demo scenario of a production Kanban replenishment creating a work order. First, we will create a pull sequence with supply type as "Production." Next, we will generate Kanban cards for the pull sequence. Replenish one Kanban card to create a work order for supply generation. Finally, we will complete the work order and view the Kanban card status getting updated to Full. With this, let's get into the demo.
Log in to the application as a warehouse manager.
Source type as Production, Kanban size, number of cards, and, optionally, lead time. Click Create to create the pull sequence.
The pull sequence is listed in the Pull Sequence summary page. Click the item number link to open the pull sequence. The pull sequence details are displayed. Click Generate Cards action to generate the required number of cards. Kanban cards are generated in New status.
Warehouse operator scans the Kanban card from a mobile device and replenishes the Kanban card. The Kanban card is replenished. The card is an empty status indicating that supply document creation is initiated.
A work order is created as per the primary work definition. And there is no production line name in the pull sequence. The card status becomes in process when the supply document work order is created and released.
Note the card number and the work order number. Log in as a production operator. And execute the work order to create supply. Let us view the work order. Click Manufacturing Work Orders and query for the work order.
Search for the required work order. View the details of the work order. The details display the Kanban card associated to the work order. Click Manufacturing Dispatch List to execute the work order. Complete the work order. Quick Complete the work order quantity.
The work order is in Completed status. The Kanban card status is updated to Full. The material requirement has been fulfilled. You can view the status changes in the Card Activity page. This completes the second demo on creating Kanban replenishment supply through work order.
Now, let's walk through the third and final demo scenario of an inter-organization Kanban setup and execution. First, we will create a pull sequence with supply type as "Inter-organization." Next, we will generate Kanban cards for the pull sequence.
Replenish one Kanban card to create a transfer order for supply generation. The material is shipped from the source organization. And the Kanban card status is updated to In transit. Finally, the material is received at the destination organization in Kanban card status being updated to full. With this, let's get into the demo.
Log in to the application as a warehouse manager. Navigate as supply chain execution followed by inventory management. Click Panel Drawer icon to see the Task menu. In the Task menu, click Pull Sequences under Kanban.
The Pull Sequence summary page is displayed. Click Create Pull Sequence action to create a new pull sequence. The page to create new pull sequence is displayed. Enter item, destination, subinventory, source type as inter-organization, source organization, and source inventory, Kanban size, number of cards, and, optionally, lead time. Click Create to create the pull sequence.
The pull sequence is created and displayed in the Summary page. A toast message is displayed for confirmation. Select the row. And click on the item number link to view the pull sequence. Click Generate Cards to generate the Kanban cards. Kanban cards are generated in New status.
Warehouse operator scans the Kanban card from a mobile device and replenishes the Kanban card. The Kanban card is replenished. The card is in process status indicating that supply document creation has been completed.
A transfer order is created. And the transfer order number is displayed. Note the card number and the transfer order number. Navigate to Shipment Lines and query for the transfer order to pick release and ship. Click on Pick Release in More Actions to pick release. Once the material is pick released, generate shipment. Ship confirmed to complete the shipment.
The Kanban card supply status is updated to In transit to indicate that the supply against the Kanban card is in transit. You can view the status changes in the Kanban Card activity. The material is received at the destination.
Next, receive the material at the destination. Navigate to Receive Expected Shipments to initiate receipt creation. Query for the required purchase order. And create a receipt. The receipt is created.
The Kanban card supply status is updated to Full. You can view the status changes in the Activity page as well. This completes the third and last demo on inter-organization Kanban setup and execution. This also completes the demo for the feature defined pull sequences and generate production and inter-organization Kanban cards.
