New Strategic Modeling Option to Run a Data Map Upon Data Map Import

There is a new option available for running data maps that push data between Planning and Strategic Modeling or between Strategic Modeling models.

In Strategic Modeling Models, associated data maps' Run On option now provides an additional option, Data Map Import or Check In. When a model’s data map has the option Data Map Import or Check In, these data maps run after the data map completes. (Importing the data implicitly checks in the model.) Previously, you could only specify to run the data map when you checked in the model.

To specify options for running data maps in Strategic Modeling:

1. From the Home page, click Strategic Modeling, and then click Models.

2. From the Actions menu next to the model you want to associate a data map with, click Properties, and then click Data Maps.

3. In the Associated Data Maps area, next to the data map, from the Run On list, select Data Map Import or Check In.

Business Benefit: This option supports more use cases for running data maps, for example, if you want to move data from Planning to a Strategic Modeling model, and you want any data maps associated with the model to run immediately when the data is imported. You can automatically run up to three levels of associated data maps with this new option, which automates your data mapping process.
