Enhanced Template Processing in Supplemental Data and Enterprise Journals

You can now save Supplemental Data form and Enterprise Journal templates even if they’re not fully configured. When saving, a warning message indicates any critical missing configuration. However, you can ignore the warning temporarily and continue to save the template. This allows you to return later to add the missing information and map all the required fields from the target before deploying the template.

After you’ve completed adding all the information to the template, you can use the Validate option from the Action menu to make sure that the template is ready for deployment. To validate, you must select the period, select the template that you want to validate, and click Validate. This starts a non-consolidation job—Validate Form Template job for supplemental data forms or Validate Journal Template job for enterprise journal templates.

After the job completes, the validation results are displayed that indicate whether the template is valid or if any errors need to be corrected. You can validate multiple templates at once.

In a related update, you can also now set the Required field to Yes or No for target attributes even if the attribute is locked or if the target attribute is mapped to the template.

Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, Tax Reporting

Business Benefit: The enhanced save and validation process for Supplemental Data forms and Enterprise Journal templates allows you to save the templates in-progress without completing all fields, allowing work to continue in stages and reducing delays.
