Redwood Experience: View Role Guides for Career Roles
You can now view all role guides associated with a career role on the Role Guides tab of the career details page of the Opportunity Marketplace application provided role guides are defined and associated with jobs or positions relevant to that career role. Role guides provide more specific information about the capabilities required for a career role. Role guides can pertain to a particular department or business vertical. For example, for a Software Development Manager career role, you can have these role guides:
- Software Development Manager for Business Analytics: Lists business model analysis and system analysis capabilities
- Software Development Manager for Banking Applications: Lists building secure applications, financial domain knowledge, and risk management capabilities
- Software Development Manager for Machine Learning Applications: Lists building large scale models and machine learning toolset capabilities
To view role guides:
- Go to the Opportunity Marketplace application.
- On the Explore tab, select Career Roles in the Opportunity filter.
- Click a card of the career role that you’re interested in.
- On the career details page, click the Role Guides tab to view the role guide cards associated with that career. By default, the most recently created role guides are listed on the top row. The role guide card indicates the number of skills that are required for that role guide.
Tip: You can sort the role guides listed based on their name or the date they were updated.
- Click a role guide card to view these details about the role guide:
- Description of the role guide
- Capabilities for that role guide with these details:
- Capability description
- Skills required to attain that capability
- Tasks to attain the required skills
- Additional resources to attain the required skills
- To favorite the role guide, click the Add to Favorites button on the top of the page.
Plan your career growth more effectively by identifying the skills that you need to develop for the area you wish to pursue within a particular career role.
Steps to Enable
Administrators need to ensure that these configurations are complete:
- Use the Role and Capability Guides task in My Client Groups to define role guides and associate them with appropriate positions or jobs.
- Ensure that the Process Career Roles for Oracle Search Ingestion scheduled process has been scheduled at least once after every release version upgrade and P2T (production-to-test) process.
- For users to view jobs on the Jobs tab, enable the Enable jobs on Opportunity Marketplaces (ORA_HCM_OPP_MARKET_PLACE_JOBS) profile option.
- For users to view career suggestions on the Explore tab of the Opportunity Marketplace application, enable the Enable career roles on Opportunity Marketplace (ORA_HCM_OPP_MARKET_PLACE_CAREER_ROLES) profile option.
- For users to view AI based career suggestions on the Explore tab of the Opportunity Marketplace application, enable the AI-Suggested Careers Enabled (ORA_HRD_AI_BEST_ROLES) profile option.

Access Requirements
If you use custom roles, ensure that these privileges are granted to the roles:
- To view career roles and details: Manage Career (HRG_MANAGE_CAREER_DETAILS_PRIV)
- To view role guides on the Role Guides tab: View Role Guide (WLF_VIEW_ROLE_GUIDE)
- To view jobs on the Jobs tab: Access Internal Candidate Experience (IRC_ACCESS_INTERNAL_CANDIDATE_EXPERIENCE_PRIV_OBI)
