Enable Logging on User-Defined Process Configuration Group

Logging is set to investigate problems with a process, which aren't easily identified in other ways. When logging is inadvertently set for a process such as the main payroll run, the additional processing required for the logging can cause significant performance issues. You can set logging for a process using the logging parameters on a process configuration group. This new feature prevents you from enabling logging parameters on the default process configuration group.

A user-defined process configuration group is now required to support logging for processes that were initially run with the default group. The user-defined group should include the same parameters and values as the default group, plus the necessary logging parameters. Create a new group if you do not already have one defined for logging purposes.

When logging is required for a process that was originally run using the default group, you can enter this group in the process configuration group parameter. It is also recommended that you remove all logging parameters from your default group.

In Update 25A, a warning message will be displayed when you add or update a logging parameter on the default group. In Update 25B, the warning messages will be replaced with an error.

This feature lets customers reduce the instances of logging being set inadvertently for a process.
