Payroll Variance Report

We have made it easier for you to compare balance values across payroll runs with the delivery of the Payroll Variance Report. This report compares two outputs of the Employee Active Payroll Balance report and displays all the variances in a .csv format.

To run this process:

  1. From My Client Groups, click Payroll.
  2. Click Submit a Flow.
  3. Select your US legislative data group.
  4. Search for, and select Payroll Variance Report.
  5. For each report you’re comparing, you can either select the instance of the Employee Active Payroll Balance report or upload its XML output report.
  6. Click Submit.

The report will help you identify any balance value variations post a business update (like salary) or a technical update (like patching)  

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • The report output displays all balance value variations above the threshold you set. The default threshold is 0.1 (such as $.10).
  • The report output includes:
    • Employee info, such as person number, person name, payroll relationship number, and appropriate address info
    • Organization info, such as tax reporting unit
    • Process info, such as run type, process date, process type, payroll name
    • Balance info, such as name, dimension, balance value source of the first file, balance value target of the second file
  • The report is currently delivered as hidden. It will be enabled out of the box with the 25A March Statutory Maintenance Pack.
