GOSI and Maternity Leave Legislative Update

These updates help HR and payroll administrators manage maternity leave periods when Saudi General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) pays the employee’s salary, ensuring payroll, contribution, and arrears handling align with statutory requirements and organizational payroll practices.

A dedicated, user maintained calculation component on the Employee GOSI Details calculation card is available to enter GOSI maternity dates, GOSI contribution calculations won't rely on absence records. This ensures correct contribution and arrears calculations even when absence records are not the source of truth.

  • Highlights: Stores absence start date (required) and optional end date; default end = start + three calendar months if end date left blank.
    • If, for example, GOSI has agreed to pay maternity leave for 4 months, rather than 3 months, enter an appropriate end date to extend the calculation.
  • Used by payroll and GOSI calculations to determine contribution windows, arrears, and employer charge calculations independent of the absence record.
  • Supports manual recalculation of the GOSI reference salary when business requires; if not updated the contribution calculations may use the minimum reference salary rules.

Triggers generation of payroll elements and balances that hold calculated contribution and arrears amounts for processing in the payroll run.
