Unemployment Insurance for Employees Working in Bahrain

Calculate employee and employer unemployment insurance contributions for eligible employees working in Bahrain's government sector.

Bahrain payroll now supports updated unemployment insurance calculations for all employees who are citizens of countries other than Bahrain, work in the government sector, and are registered for social insurance. For these employees, both employee and employer unemployment insurance are calculated as 1% of the contributory salary, as calculated for IPE social insurance, including applicable maximum salaries.

Use the Unemployment Insurance to:

  • Calculate both employee and employer unemployment insurance for all registered government-sector employees who are citizens of countries other than Bahrain.
  • Calculate unemployment insurance at 1% of the contributory salary calculated for IPE social insurance, including applicable maximum salaries.
  • Apply Bahrain social insurance rules to the unemployment insurance calculation for eligible employees working in Bahrain.
  • Apply unemployment insurance in addition to IPE social insurance for GCC citizens while keeping the IPE calculation unchanged.
  • Return unemployment insurance results to the Employee Unemployment Social Insurance element.

Tips and considerations

This feature is available out of the box. Employees must be registered for social insurance for unemployment insurance to be calculated.

The registered for social insurance checkbox determines whether unemployment insurance is calculated. Unemployment insurance is separate from the IPE social insurance calculation for GCC citizens, so the IPE calculation remains unchanged.
