Peruvian DNI National Identifier Entry and Validation

Idea Lab

Use the Peruvian Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI) as a national identifier with format validation.

When recording national identifiers for workers, use the DNI national identifier type (National Identity Document Number) for Peru in the Hire flow, Person Details, or Person Management. The application validates the entered DNI using the following formats:

  • Eight digits, for example, 12345678
  • Eight digits followed by a hyphen and an optional check digit, for example, 12345678-9

Entries that don't match either format are rejected.

This update adds the National Identity Document Number identifier type for Peru and validates the DNI entry format, helping ensure consistent capture of Peruvian national identifier information.

Steps to enable and configure

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips and considerations

  • DNI format validation checks only the input pattern and length.
  • The validation doesn't calculate or verify the check digit.
  • A DNI can consist of either eight digits or eight digits followed by a hyphen and one check digit.
