You may have scenarios where you need to repair a specific serial numbered item or the need to return items to the vendor for repair (for scenarios like electronic items needing repair). To enable this, we’ve added the capability for users to associate serial numbers to movement requests so that you can create internal movements to pick a specific SKU and serial number. You can also view the underlying serial number associated to the movement request.

Now, the option to associate serial numbers to the corresponding movement request ensures that replenishment picking happens for the specific serial number. This helps to move specific serial numbers near the assembly location or to a particular area of the warehouse for repair or for further processing.

INTERFACING REQUIRED SERIAL NUMBERS

Now, when external systems pass a movement request with one or more lines and the corresponding required serial numbers are also passed, the system will populate the required serial numbers in the Movement Request entity.

NOTE:  Required serial numbers are supported only in JSON format.

ONLY DEALLOCATE ON SHORT FLAG

When the  only_deallocate_on_short flag is set to yes, the system now allows interfacing a movement request with required serial number(s[RW1] ).

NOTE: When you edit the movement request type on the movement request with required serials, with another movement request type (that has this flag set to False), the system will display an error when you save.

ASSOCIATE REQUIRED SERIAL NUMBER

From the Movement Request -> Details UI, you can add and associate required serial numbers for corresponding order lines (when using a serialized item with end to end tracking) using the new Required Serial Number column and hyperlink.

Required Serial Number Column

Required Serial Number Column

  • The Required Serial Number hyperlink is enabled only if:
    • the underlying company tracks serials end to end.
    • the selected movement request detail item has required serial number tracking enabled.
  • The application displays an error message when you add new serial numbers or edit the serial number for corresponding movement request detail.

NOTE: The add/edit/delete action buttons on the Movement Request Detail page are permission controlled.

REPLENISHMENT

Once movement requests with required serial numbers are created, corresponding movement requests have to be pushed to the destination location. Standalone replenishment with a trigger mode of movement request will consider movement requests with required serials only for Full LPN Replenishments. Other modes of Replenishment like Replenishment in Case Packs and Units will not work for movement requests with required serial numbers.

Steps to Enable
