Improved Copy from Equipment to Shipment Equipment

OTM has always had an internal action to copy certain fields from the Equipment (Asset) table to the s-equipment, which is the instance on the shipment.  OTM shipments are made with an s-equipment based on the Equipment Group's attributes.   When real Assets are assigned to the shipment, then there is a need to overwrite the attributes with the real values from the real asset.  This enhancement adds some fields and updates some calculations such as the axle weights.

Most significant change will be an update to the actual tare weight although the other attributes may also be updated before the axle weight calculation is run.

Real assets, particularly rail assets have different tare weights.  The update helps with compliance.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

Rail cars are made from steel castings and they rust.  The "as built" weight changes over time.  Even when new, no two are exactly alike.  In the USA, the tolerance for scale accuracy is 200 lbs.  There is no need for a 10 lb adjustment, for example.  But OTM will enforce weight tolerances to a high degree of precision regardless of need.

This feature can be very useful if planned for one car type but actually loaded into another car type that is similar, but still different.  IT WILL CHANGE THE Equipment Group on the shipment.  One needs to re-rate if that happens. Re-rate is NOT built into this action anymore.
