Upgrading Selected Environments to a Newer Version of Essbase
In this monthly update, Oracle will upgrade selected environments on the older Essbase version to a newer Essbase version.
If your environments are selected for Essbase upgrade, you must have already received a notification.
This change affects the Essbase version used in EPM Cloud; it does not affect the cube configuration in your application. For example, if the application is configured to use non-hybrid cubes, this update will not change it to use hybrid cubes. For detailed information on the use of Essbase in EPM Cloud, see About Essbase in EPM Cloud in Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators.
To ensure that your application is compatible with the hybrid Essbase version, you can validate the Essbase outline using the steps described in Validating Essbase Outline section (link in the following Key Resources section).
NOTE: When you perform a cube refresh for the first time after the environments get updated to the newer Essbase version, make sure to enable the Validate Metadata option for the refresh. This applies whether you perform the cube refresh immediately or have it scheduled as a job for later.
Business Benefit: Upgrading to the newer Essbase version across the EPM Cloud fleet enables Oracle to provide the latest Essbase features and bug fixes to your environments.
