Integrate Manufacturing and Maintenance Direct Work Order Transactions with Your Warehouse Management System
This feature delivers services and core application enhancements to support integrations of direct work order transactions to an external execution system or Oracle Fusion Cloud Warehouse Management (WMS). Once implemented, you can issue, return, and backflush materials, as well as perform product completions and returns for work orders generated in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing or Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance when using an external warehouse management system or Oracle WMS.
Now you can provide the packing unit during product completion and returns transactions in manufacturing and maintenance.
- Similarly, you can provide the packing unit on the Complete with Details page in work order execution.
- In Maintenance Management, the packing unit is introduced at product completion of the Transform Assets step. This validation is present in both the Product Complete and Reject flows on Redwood pages only and in the Maintenance Work Order Operation REST resource.
Now you can schedule the Generate Manufacturing and Maintenance Transactions for External Systems process to transfer manufacturing and maintenance transactions to Oracle WMS. Work in process product completion, return and material issue, and returns are all sent to WMS when the process completes successfully. This process can be scheduled for every WMS integrated organization with its frequency depending on the requirement. It can also be used to resend any errored or missing transactions based on work order, transaction date, or transaction identifier.
Once the scheduled process is run, you can review the status of the work order transactions using the Review Completed Transactions page in Inventory Management. The Integration Status column shows if the transactions were interfaced to WMS, and the External Packing Unit field captures the packing unit provided during product completion or the return transaction on the work order.
The Review Completed Transaction details page also shows the integration status and packing unit.
The Review Completed Transactions page in Inventory Management also shows that the Work in Process Material Issue transactions, together with the product completion or return transactions on the work order, are sent to WMS once the Generate Manufacturing and Maintenance Transactions for External Systems scheduled process is run.
A new out of the box integration Oracle INV WMS Work Order Direct Transactions to send transactions from Oracle Fusion Inventory Management to Oracle WMS is also made available in Oracle Integration Cloud.
Now you can verify the manufacturing and maintenance transactions in Oracle WMS using the new From Manufacturing Transaction Header page.
You can also use the Manufacturing Transaction (manufacturing_transaction) REST resource to perform these manufacturing transactions directly in WMS.
For your manufacturing or maintenance activities within an organization that employs a warehouse management system, you can now issue, return, and backflush materials, as well as perform product completions and returns for work orders. This feature delivers services, core application enhancements, and predelivered OIC-based integration mappings to integrate direct work order transactions for work orders in Oracle Fusion Cloud Manufacturing or Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance to Oracle Fusion Cloud Warehouse Management. This feature and integration points can also be used with other warehouse management systems.
Here's the demo of these capabilities:
Steps to Enable
Use the Opt In UI to enable this feature. For instructions, refer to the Optional Uptake of New Features section of this document.
Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management
Ensure the opt in is enabled for the feature.
Ensure that you've enabled the following parameters at the subinventory level:
- Use subinventory for manufacturing and maintenance integration with WMS (this option alone is required to identify a supply subinventory)
- Use packing unit for product completions and returns (this option is required for a completion subinventory and it's dependent on the first parameter)
Tips And Considerations
- This feature is used to integrate product completion and returns and other maintenance and manufacturing material issue and return transactions to Oracle Fusion Cloud Warehouse Management, or another warehouse management system.
- This feature is based on a permanent opt in: Integrate Manufacturing and Maintenance Direct Work Order Transactions with Your Warehouse Management System.
- Ensure that you've enabled the Integrate manufacturing and maintenance with WMS for the inventory organization parameter before using this feature.
- Ensure that you've enabled the subinventory to capture packing unit for product completions and returns to track LPNs in WMS.
- Necessary on-hand inventory for performing material issues must be present in the supply subinventory.
- The packing unit provided during the work order completion should be a new LPN (License Plate Number) in WMS or an existing LPN in Located status.
- The packing unit provided during the work order return should be an existing LPN in Received or Located status, and the product being returned must be present in the LPN.
