Synchronize Item Information With Epic

You can synchronize your item master, item inventory location, and item cost information with Epic.

Prerequisite

  1. Deploy the existing healthcare library. The standard integration works with the predefined healthcare library. For additional details about healthcare library, see Use Predefined Extensible Flexfield Attributes for Maintaining Healthcare Product Data.
  2. Deploy and setup the Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM — Epic | Sync Items recipe in Oracle Integration.
  3. Opt in to the Track Last Contract Price of an Item feature.

Epic Item Integration Process

Following is the process for integrating items:

  1. Product Data Steward performs the following:
    1. Creates a new spoke system called Epic.
    2. Creates a filter using the Epic spoke system for items that must be synchronized with Epic.
    3. Schedules the Synchronize Items with Oracle Health scheduled process.
  1. Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM — Epic | Sync Items recipe performs the following:
    1. Downloads the zip files from Oracle WebCenter Content.
    2. Transforms data and creates files for Epic in HL7 format.
    3. Loads the file to the file server for Epic to process.
    4. Communicates with Product Data Steward and administrator for resolution if data transfer fails.

This feature benefits your business by providing the following:

  • Reduced need for manual integration maintenance.
  • Elimination of siloed EHR data and the potential introduction of duplicate items.
  • Quick and efficient access to enriched item data utilized in distinct provider organizations.

Steps to Enable

After you opt in, perform these steps:

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Trading Community Source Systems task.
    1. Click Create.
    2. Add a new source system for Epic.

  1. Create a filter using the Epic spoke system to publish the item.
  2. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Subinventories and Locators task.
    1. Select the subinventories that are applicable for Epic.
    2. Click Edit.
    3. Select the Oracle Health location checkbox as shown in the following screenshot.

  1. Schedule the Synchronize Items with Oracle Health schedule process with the Epic spoke system. Specify the parameters as shown in the following screenshot.

Users who are assigned a configured job role that contains these privileges can access this feature:

  • View Healthcare Extensible Flexfields (ORA_HC_EFF_VIEW_PRIV)
  • Manage Healthcare Extensible Flexfields (ORA_HC_EFF_EDIT_PRIV)
  • Manage Item Source System (EGI_MANAGE_ITEM_SOURCE_SYSTEM)
  • Publish Item (EGI_PUBLISH_ITEM)
