Increase the Number of Planning Buckets in a Constrained Plan
In some industries with long lead time components, the planning horizon for constrained supply planning may extend out to many years. To be able to plan in such situations, the allowed number of constrained supply planning time buckets has been increased from 120 to 150. For example, you can model a planning horizon of about 3 years if you plan in weekly time buckets. With this update, supply planning allows more flexibility to model longer planning horizons where supply is constrained.
You can now plan for a longer horizon and can use up to 150 total time buckets of different sizes. For example, 150 day buckets or 30 day buckets and 120 week buckets or 150 week buckets.
Plan Parameters
If you try to enter more than 150 buckets, you will see an error:
Plan Parameter: Error if total number of planning buckets exceeds 150

Tips And Considerations
If you want to use the Increase the Number of Planning Buckets in a Constrained Plan feature, then you must opt in to its parent feature: Constraint-Based Planning. If you’ve already opted in to this parent feature, then you don’t have to opt in again.
- The limit on total number of buckets applies only to constrained supply plans.
- You should use day buckets to plan more granular level planning and week/period buckets for aggregate level planning.
