Redwood: Initiate Disposition and Processing of Returns
With the Reverse Logistics Disposition UI, a reverse logistics manager (Depot Repair Manager Job Role), can efficiently disposition and take action on parts returned from field (unused, dead-on-arrival, recovered defectives, tools, etc.) and customers (repair, exchange, warranty claim, etc.).
Using this feature, repair managers can perform the following parts disposition tasks:
- View or search for parts in return stocking locations
- Enter disposition decisions
- View asset overviews
- Perform disposition actions (inventory transactions/create repair work orders)
The Reverse Logistics Dispositions page lists inventory items from all stocking locations for the selected organization and subinventory. Depot repair managers can search or filter for the parts to be dispositioned by the following criteria:
- Organization
- Subinventory
- Disposition Code

After choosing the item to be dispositioned from the Reverse Logistics Dispositions page, depot repair managers can use the Disposition Details tab to enter the disposition code.
Enter Disposition Details
After entering the disposition details, the item can be dispositioned with any of the following actions:
- Transfer Inventory
- Create Miscellaneous Transaction
- Create Repair Order
The depot repair manager can also use the View Asset Overview page to review asset-related information on the Maintenance Cloud page.
For non-asset items, the View Asset Overview link is disabled.
-When entering disposition details, depot repair managers can review the item status from the Item Status tab. The Item Status tab provides a comprehensive view of the item's overall inventory balance, including a breakdown of usable and defective quantities across various stocking locations.

The following screenshot provides an example of the Transfer Inventory disposition action.
Transfer Inventory
The disposition record for an item will be closed and removed from the Search page once any inventory transaction is performed for that item (such as Transfer Inventory or Create Miscellaneous Transaction). However, the record will remain open if a Maintenance Work Order is created, since multiple work orders can be created for the same item. An item will also be cleared from the Reverse Logistics Dispositions page when it is moved out of a valid stocking location.
Process and disposition customer returns to ensure efficient and effective utilization of returned assets and parts.
