Enable parallel runs for load data process during targeted refresh collections

Redwood Platform

You can now Collect Planning Data and Load Planning Data from flat file processes in parallel by organization group. When you select an organization group with targeted or net change refresh, supported collection processes can run in parallel from the user interface, Scheduled Processes, REST service, or job sets.
On the Collect Planning Data page, you can select Enable Organization Group Collection for targeted collection, then select an organization group. For Scheduled Processes, or job sets, you can also use the Collect Data by Organization Group process for parallel organization group collections.
This capability helps improve collection throughput and scalability by parallelizing supported organization group collections across the user interface, Scheduled Processes, REST services, and job sets.

This feature lets you:

  • Collect reference, supply planning, and demand planning entities to Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Planning with targeted and net change refresh by organization group in parallel using:
    • File-based data import (FBDI)
    • Collect Data by Organization Groups scheduled process
  • Submit Create Trees for Dimensions in parallel from the Load Planning Data from Flat Files and Collect Data by Organization Groups processes.

Parallel Runs for Collection Using Load Planning Data from Flat Files

Prior to this feature, even if you submitted Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled processes for multiple organization groups in a target refresh in parallel, the collection load process phases would still process them sequentially.

With this update, you can have parallel load process phases for multiple Load Planning Data from Flat Files requests submitted for different organization groups. For a list of the supply planning and demand planning entities supported for collection using organization groups, refer to the 26B release update for the feature Enable Targeted Collection of Source Data by Organization Groups in Parallel for External Systems.

The following table lists which combinations are supported for parallel target collections with an organization group using the Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process. This table is also applicable for net change collections.

Load Planning Data from Flat Files - scheduled process 1 Load Planning Data from Flat Files - scheduled process 2 Parallel target collection supported
Organization group : Group 1 Organization group : [none] No
Organization group : [none] Organization group : Group1 No
Organization group : Group 1 Organization group : Group 2 Yes
Organization group : Group 1 Organization group : Group 1 No
Organization group : Group 1  and Staged Data Group : 1 Organization group : Group 1  and Staged Data Group : 1 No

Supported scenarios for parallel load of target collections for Load Planning Data from Flat Files

The Load  Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process with parallel targeted collection is supported as follows:

  • With an organization group
  • With a staged data group
  • If entities have files split across multiple zip files in staged data group collection with scenarios where collections with an organization group may have the same or multiple entities

Parallel targeted collections are also supported when:

  • Invoked from the Redwood or classic (non-Redwood) Load Planning Data from Flat Files task flow page
  • Invoked from the Scheduled Processes user interface page
  • Submitted as part of job sets
  • Submitted as scheduled runs
  • Submitted using REST services
  • Submitted by Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration services

Parallel Runs for Collections from SCM Cloud
You can collect reference, supply planning, and demand planning entities from Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM in parallel collections for targeted and net change refresh with organization groups. Entities supported for Load Planning Data from Flat Files are supported for collection from Oracle Cloud SCM.

Organization group collections are always run in parallel when a new submission overlaps with an existing run.

You can collect data in parallel from Oracle Cloud SCM by invoking the Collect Planning Data task flow from the classic or Redwood user experience, from the Scheduled Processes user interface, from REST services, or using job sets.

To collect data in parallel from Oracle Cloud SCM using a task flow:

  1. Navigate to the Supply Chain Planning Redwood work area.
  2. Select the Collect Planning Data task in Plan Inputs.
  3. Select an Organization Group on the Collection filters page.
  4. Select relevant Reference Data, Demand Data, and Supply Data.
  5. Select Submit to launch collections.
  6. Submit a parallel run for another organization group by following steps 1 to 5.

Parallel collection submissions always submit the Collect Data by Organization Groups job set.

To collect data in parallel from Oracle Cloud SCM using the Scheduled Processes page:

  1. Create a collection template with an organization group.
  2. In the Navigator, select Tools > Scheduled Processes.
  3. Select the Schedule New Process button.
  4. In the Schedule New Process dialog box, select Job Set.
  5. In the Name drop-down list, select Collect Data by Organization Groups. Then select OK.
  6. In the Process Details dialog box, select the Collection Type and Collection Template for the Extract Master and Load Master steps. Then select Submit.
  7. Submit a parallel run for another organization-group-based collection template following steps 1 to 6.

To collect data in parallel using a job set:

  1. Create a job set and include the collections step.
  2. Provide the job set name as ConcurrentCollectionJobSet. ConcurrentCollectionJobSet is the internal job set for Collect Data by Organization Groups for a scheduled process job set.
  3. Submit in parallel multiple job sets that include the collections step.

For additional details on creating job sets, refer to the 21A release update feature Sequence Planning Processes Using Job Sets.

The following table describes how to achieve parallel execution for collections—with or without an organization group—from a Fusion source initiated using task flow, scheduled process, or REST.

Create Trees for Dimensions schedule process in parallel collections

The Create Trees for Dimensions scheduled process that’s spawned during a targeted or net change refresh of data collections with organization group (whether from Oracle Cloud SCM or an external source) inherits the organization group details. In this situation, Create Trees for Dimensions also runs in parallel for the supported reference data entities: Resource, Organization, Product, and Configure to Order dimensions.

Standalone submission or scheduled runs of Create Trees for Dimensions using the Scheduled Process page, REST, or job sets won’t support parallel runs.

The following table shows when parallel runs of Create Trees for Dimensions are supported.

Create Trees for Dimensions - scheduled process 1 Create Trees for Dimensions - scheduled process 2 Parallel run of Create Trees for Dimension
