External Objects & Integrations: Custom Parameters for Authentication

With the Custom Parameters for Authentication enhancement, admins would be able to send a request via the External Objects & Integrations service with custom parameters to other services for Authentication, like some services use an API key in the header as an authentication mechanism. The custom parameters can be added in addition to the authentication types supported by External Objects & Integrations. The enhancement will also provide admins an option to save the value as secret securely in the vault.

Business Values:

  • Easier Integration to 3rd Party Services: Connections can be made to third-party external services that have unique or custom authentication parameters
  • Security: Secrets will be saved securely in vaults

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • There are system-enforced limits on the number of custom parameter configurations, hence it is advised to use the configurations judiciously so that the configurations can be added to the connection to services that mandate such parameters.
  • This feature is part of the BUI MAY II build (3.24.04.29-b0001). It is scheduled to be made available on non-production sites on 5/2 and is scheduled to be pushed to production sites on 5/16.

Access Requirements

Admins with access to External Objects & Integrations (Object Designer Permission) will have access to add custom parameters.
