Drawer Presentation of Input Forms

Previously, an input form launched from a BPA script and targeted to the page data area, was presented as a large modal window even when the content did not call for that window size. Redwood supports more modern options for presenting an input form in either a small, medium, or a large drawer panel. Now you can design your input forms to render in various drawer panel sizes as needed. While this enhancement aligns with Redwood guidelines, it is also supported in classic UI display mode.

BPA scripting syntax is enhanced to also support a small, medium, or large drawer as target options for an input form.

The maintenance input form used to add or edit a business object entity is one of the most common types of input form. As of this release, when in Redwood UI display mode, the default display of a maintenance input form is set to a large drawer. A new business object option Maintenance Drawer Size is introduced to allow a business object to select a different drawer size.

In classic UI display mode:

  • If a business object is not associated with the Maintenance Drawer Size option, the maintenance input form is presented as before in a large modal window.
  • The add dialog that prompts for an entity type or business object is presented in a small drawer.

The ability to enter data in a properly sized input drawer allows for a more modern user experience.
