Support for Encrypted Files and Digital Signatures

Exchanging encrypted and signed files requires the sender and recipient to exchange public keys and securely manage their private keys. In a previous release, several batch controls were enhanced to support file encryption and decryption using Pretty Good Privacy standards and digital signatures using the standard "Sign" option. New batch parameters were introduced to identify the external and internal keys used to:

  • Encrypt and/or sign outbound files
  • Decrypt and/or verify inbound files

When these batch parameters are correctly configured, the file adapter automatically encrypts, decrypts, signs, and/or verifies the file data as applicable.

In this release, the following batch controls have been updated:

  • Accounts Payable Download (APDL)
  • Letter Extract (LTRPRT)
  • Meter Read Download Extract (MDL) - Applies only to Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing Cloud Service

Refer to the batch control's parameter descriptions for details.

This helps protect the contents of a file from being read by anyone who does not have the encryption key.
