Test a Script or Business Service Rolls Back Changes

Previously, the Test button visible to authorized users on the Script page and the Business Service page performed the script/business service logic. If the script or business service logic included database updates, these were also performed. The Test button's logic is now enhanced to perform the script or business service logic, but to roll back the changes. This allows developers to confirm that the script or business service is performing the expected steps, without updating data. Note that if the script or business service does a web service call, this logic cannot be rolled back. Additionally, if the logic uses the technique to call a service via the save point dispatcher, logic performed in that session is also not rolled back.

The Test button adds an extra layer of security to ensure that only authorized users can use the test action.

Providing the ability to test a script or business service without committing changes ensures that data is not accidentally updated during a test and also allows developers to reuse testing data in subsequent tests.
