Drop Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) Partition Support

The ILM Automation - Drop Partition (K1-ILMDR) batch control provides the self-service capability to drop an ILM partition without the need to raise a service request. Drop ILM partition support is also available for empty and old partitions for the selected maintenance object.

Additionally, you can use the ILM Drop Partition (CM_ILM_DROP_PARTITION) accelerator scheduler batch stream to drop partitions. This accelerator includes the D1-IMDCL (run first by the application) and K1-ILMDR batch controls.

NOTE: For Oracle Utilities Meter Solution Cloud Service-specific IMD maintenance object, the oldest partition with data is allowed to be dropped. Batch control (D1-IMDCL) must be run before running the Drop ILM Partition batch control(K1-ILMDR), so that relevant data is appropriately marked for oldest partition to be dropped. For Measurement MO in Oracle Utilities Meter Solution Cloud Service, reference partitions are not setup. As a result, only the primary table partition will be dropped. Child table partitions are not dropped.

This empowers customers to drop undesired ILM partitions on their own and quickly save storage space/costs associated with the partition.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips And Considerations

  • This feature is also now available in 23C products.
  • You should remove the Add Partition batch job from existing stream definitions.
  • This batch control physically drops oldest and empty partition for the selected maintenance object and therefore access to this batch should be limited to Administrative level user groups. Once a batch job is completed, there is no rollback.
  • For Oracle Utilities Meter Solution Cloud Service-specific Measurement maintenance object, reference partition setup is not available and as such, adding a partition for Measurement will only add a partition for the primary table.
