The location of a controllable asset on the electrical network with the hierarchical information around the transformer, feeder, and substation it is connected with, allows the utility user to group and view the assets and monitor their performance. Network model information and any updates to it are received from an external system like Oracle Network Management System. A typical distribution utility might have thousands of transformers and might rather prefer to group assets by feeders or substations for better operations, visualizations and performance monitoring. This feature extends the existing data model to introduce new objects for mapping feeders and substations on top of the existing transformer and facility objects. On receipt of a network location upload file that contains a list of service points and its associate network entities, the application validates the individual records and creates the transformer, feeder and substation entities and subsequently creates or updates the network location to appropriately associate them.

This supports capturing of network model information to facilitate grouping and visualization of controllable assets by nominal network topology.
