Create or Edit a Consequence

To create a consequence, open the Manage Consequences page and click Create Consequence. To edit a consequence, select its row in the Manage Consequences page and click Edit. Then:

  1. Enter or modify a name and a description. These describe how the consequence expresses the impact of events it's related to.
  2. Select or modify an impact model and value, which express the severity of the consequence.
    • You can select any impact model. However, a consequence is indirectly related to a risk. (It's directly related to an event, which is related to the risk.) So it's recommended that you select an impact model used in the analysis of a related risk. That way you maintain consistency in the terminology that applies to the consequence and to the risk analysis.
    • The impact value you select for a consequence is essentially a label. It plays no part in the calculation of the overall risk rating returned by risk analysis.
  3. If descriptive flexfield segments have been defined for consequences, these appear as fields in an Additional Information panel. Provide values for these fields.
  4. In a Related Events panel, view events the consequence applies to. You can relate a consequence to an event only as you create or edit the event. Values appear here only after events have been created or edited to include this consequence.
