7Round-Trip Export-Import

This chapter contains the following:

Overview of Round-Trip Export-Import

You can export data from one instance of CX Sales and B2B Service using the File-Based Data Export feature and import the exported data into another instance of CX Sales and B2B Service using File-Based Data Import. You can do this task without manually mapping the source file and the object attributes.

Export Data

You can use the File-Based Data Export feature to export the data fields of an object. By default, the parent object, child object, and all attributes are selected. You can select the fields that you want to export. You can export a single parent object for each activity. You can either schedule the export process at a future date or run it immediately. The export activity generates a ZIP file that you can save to your desktop.

Import Data

You can import the data that has been exported from another instance of CX Sales and B2B Service. You must use the ZIP file generated as a result of the export activity. Don't change the name or contents of this file. You import the data using the File-Based Data Import feature. If the data you're importing is from another instance of CX Sales and B2B Service and the Object ID value is included in the file, you must mark it as Ignore. Any custom objects or attributes that you're importing must already exist in the target CX Sales and B2B Service environment.

During the import operation, you can select the automatic mapping feature to automatically map the columns in your source file to the application attributes. Otherwise, you must manually map the columns in the data file for the parent and child attributes.
